Sunshine Coast Heritage Showcase Day


Sunshine Coast Heritage Showcase will be fantastic opportunity to learn and share all things Heritage....from 'how much is that worth' with Antique valuation from Bill Hinds, to a Heritage fashion parade, complete with clothes washing day demonstration from Kenilworth Museum, and a display of old sewing machines from Noosa Museum. The Museum will have all its current collections on display inside. There will be guided tours of the museum throughout the day.

The FREE event has good old-fashioned entertainment, from country music, ukulele demos, to the blues, Family history, vintage cars and children's activities including have ago at playing with clay. You can get a contemporary Heritage Sepia photograph from the Sunshine Coast University students who are presenting a snapshot in time.

There will be a great variety of heritage to celebrate, including aboriginal cultural display and talk from Dr Eve Fesl of the Gubbi Gubbi people, Lyndon Davis will be hosting a talking circle where you can share your stories of reconciliation in the Island of Reconciliation that has been in Cooroora Creek park since 2001. There will be an archaeology display from Qld Uni's Dr Jon Prangnell, Qld Rail exhibit and much more from Heritage groups across the Sunshine Coast and SE Qld. A variety of food will be available onsite, a guided Walk Pomona Heritage Trial will explore the Pomona township - registration 12.30pm set-off 1pm. 

The 5th Regiment Lighthorse Troop will remind us of a time in history. And dont miss the Damper tasting and online genealogy.

The Sunshine Coast Heritage Showcase will be a fantastic way to find out what Heritage based groups are on the Sunshine Coast, that you can get involved with. Come along and enjoy the day and learn about how things use to be.
