CELEBRATE NAMBOUR STATE SCHOOL'S 75th

 ANNIVERSARY

What is happening?

2011 is the 75^th anniversary of the establishment of the Nambour State High School. To celebrate this occasion, an event is being held on 6 August 2011 from 9.30am through to the evening at the school.

What is the program?

The detailed program will be finalised closer to the day and will be posted on the NHS website. However broadly, there will be:

• A great selection of food & drinks throughout the day & evening

• A Roll Call 19361937 with special guests

• Areas allocated for each decade (each decade colour coded in sports colours)

  • Bring along photos to share amongst school friends

  • Arrange a class reunion - register with our office

• Home Economics items & Library book stalls

• Tours around the school & farm and inspections of our new state of the art kitchens and science classrooms

• Opportunities to add to the history recollection of each room

• A Volleyball Challenge

• Souvenirs & Anniversary CD

• Memorabilia & Historical Photos

• Displays & Activities

• Quiet areas to reminisce

• Disabled parking near A block & extra parking at Nambour Primary School

• Genealogy Sunshine Coast & Nambour Historical Museum Stall

• Student Performances throughout the day & evening

Associated functions include a Black tie dinner on 24 September for Day & Grimes to celebrate their 75^th anniversary; and a Back to Nambour movie night, on friday 5 August in the Town Square , Low Street. The, play "Tom Petries Dilemma" will be performed after the movie.

The Nambour Historical Museum will also be open 1-4pm on Saturday 6 August and 9-12am on Sunday 7 August.

Who is organising this event?

There is a steering committee that has been meeting regularly. Minutes from the steering committee can be found on the website.

Most importantly, we hope to see as many past students & teachers as possible on the day.

Do you want memorabilia?

Yes, we will be publishing an anniversary book in CD form. This is being done in conjunction with the Genealogy Sunshine Coast. Photos and other memorabilia are most welcome. Scanned material can be emailed to 75thanniversary@nambourshs.eq.edu.au. Otherwise contact the school.

Not everything will make it onto the CD, but all material will be retained as part of the school record. You may also bring photos along on the day to show your old school mates. There will be a facility to have these scanned and added to the school record.
