SCHOOL-BASED CYBER SAFETY PROGRAM LAUNCHED
A successful school-based cyber safety program has been launched in Queensland by the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Microsoft and ninemsn.
The ThinkUKnow program educates children about cyber safety and security and encourages them to think before they act online.
The program, which is already operating in New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT, will be rolled out nationally throughout 2010. It involves AFP and Microsoft volunteers holding free interactive training sessions to enable parents, carers and teachers to educate their children about cyber-safety and security.
The program includes information on how to report online sexual exploitation, inappropriate content, cyber bullying, spam, scams and advice on other safety and security issues.
