Arts Connect

Arts Connect is a membership-driven association of visual and performing artists that seeks to stimulate and connect people through the arts. Under their umbrella they hold a wide range of classes and workshops as well as organising bus trips to Brisbane for QPAC performances and exhibitions. Falun Gong

Heart Foundation

The Heart Foundation has a network of local volunteer speakers available to visit your club, community group or organisation to speak about general heart health. The focus is on the benefits of lifestyle change and practical information on how to go about it. If you would like to invite a speaker to your organisation please contact Margaret on (07) 3872 2507 or if you would like to volunteer as a speaker to help raise awareness of heart health.


Learn to Dance

Learn Latin and Ballroom dancing including Cha-Cha, Jive, Waltz, Quickstep etc. Various locations and times to suit everyone.

TEWANTIN: Sundays from 1PM to 5PM, Masonic Hall, Moorondil St. 
COOROY: Tuesdays from 6PM to 10:15PM, Cooroy RSL Hall, Maple St. 
WOOMBYE: Thursdays from 9:00AM to 1:30PM. Woombye School of Arts. 
 
All sessions include beginner, intermediate and advanced segments, 
with beginners classes starting at the commencement of each session. 
The emphasis is on fun in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. 
Make new friends and enjoy yourself while exercising mind and body.

Adult Literacy Classes
Maleny Library offers free adult literacy classes for adults needing help with reading, writing and speaking English, everyday numeracy, reading newspapers and filling in forms. Students work with tutors and sometimes in small groups. The course is held weekly on Wednesdays from 12.30 to 3.30 pm. Eligible participants can enrol any time during the year. Solutions Adult Learning Centre
The Centre offers a range of Austudy approved short courses to help adults improve their reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and computer skills, English for non-English speakers, assistance to obtain a dirver's permit and 'Lifeskills Cooking'. Sunshine 60 & Better Group Inc

Sunshine 60 & Better Group Inc is a healthy ageing program designed to meet expressed needs of older people in local settings.  The program is dedicated to actively pursuing the philosophy of empowering older people to obtain a quality lifestyle, good health and feelings of general wellbeing.  Activities include belly dancing, mahjong, gentle exercise, craft, tai chi, cards, computer classes, laughter yoga, art classes, guest speakers and monthly barbeques.  Groups meet at Caloundra, Coolum, Imbil, Maroochydore, Nambour and Noosaville.  For more info call (07) 5443 7281.

 

Walking Group

Officeworks Classes

Officeworks Maroochydore will hold free "How To" classes each Saturday and Sunday in January.  On January 7 learn how to choose a media player and all things multimedia; January 8 how to use a shredder; January 14 how to choose a digital pen; January 15 how to decide between digital and SLR cameras; January 21 how to transfer, save and print photos using Kodak Kiosks; January 22 go along to learn how to create panoramic photos with your digital camera and on January 28 learn how to make the most of your multifunction printer.  Classes will start at 11.00 am.


Percussion Workshops

Suncoast International Tennis Academy Sign-On and Come and Try Days

The new tennis academy is based at Palmwoods Tennis Club with sessions held at Buderim, Mooloolaba and Mountain Creek (State Schools).  Training will begin at the start of Term 1 of the school calendar for kids as young as 4.  Junior coaching is $90 per term.  Sign-on and come and try days are being held from January 19 to 21, 4.00 to 6.00 pm at the Palmwoods Tennis Club, 89 Palmwoods-Montville Road.  For more info contact Neil Heyme on neilstennis@hotmail.com

 

University of the Third Age On Display

Free Financial Advice Workshop

Sunshine Coast Libraries are hosting free session to help people move through the various phases of life with financial independence.  The 'Investing with Safety' sessions will be held at Caloundra Library on February 7 and Kawana Library on February 10.  They are being conducted by Centrelink and will cover a range of topics that include investent choices, investing with safety, global economy and investment impacts.  The 75-minute sessions are free and bookings are essential - for more info call Caloundra on (07) 5499 5444 or Kawana on (07) 5458 6500.

Mother's Group, Maleny

Starting Strong is a program for expectant mothers and mums with babies under twelve months old, developed to support and nurture the transition from pregnancy to motherhood.  The next program starts Monday, February 20 from 10 am to 12.30 pm at the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre and runs for 7 weeks, one day a week.  Phone the Caloundra City Family Support Program on (07) 5429 6766.
