Ongoing professional development opportunities for those in the legal industry are as follows :

 The Queensland Law Society (QLS)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) was introduced into Queensland in 2005.  Changes to CPD requirements were made in April 2008 - click here for more info.

Practitioners are required to complete a minumum of 10CPD points each year in order to maintain their Queensland practising certificate. There are a variety of activities available to assist practitioners with the Scheme.  CPD points may be acquired through such thing as attending seminars and conferences, publishing articles in law journals and other legal publications.

The Continuing Legal Education unit offers an extensive range of conferences and seminars in Brisbane and regional centres. These programs are developed in collaboration with the QLS Sections and Committees and address the latest legislative changes and case updates in addition to current practice-management issues. QLS regional members can access Brisbane-based seminars via our extensive videoconferencing network.  Click here for more info.
